SMARTBOATOS | FOR BOAT OWNERS
Your boat. Your equipment. Your choice.
One screen to control them all.
Why should managing your boat mean juggling different apps, proprietary screens and equipment that cannot easily communicate? SmartBoatOS is an open, customisable platform that brings compatible onboard monitoring, control and management into one place — while letting you keep more of the equipment you already own.

Why SmartBoat?
We believe chartplotters should be reserved for navigation. And we believe boat owners should be free to choose equipment for what it does — not because it belongs to a particular manufacturer’s ecosystem.
Keep navigation focused
Leave the chartplotter to do its primary job. Use SmartBoatOS for monitoring, control, alerts and vessel management on other compatible screens.
Open and independent
Integrate compatible products from different manufacturers through one platform, reducing dependence on the traditional proprietary marine electronics ecosystems.
Your layout, your priorities
Choose the information, controls and layouts you want to see. Tailor different displays to what matters at the helm, below decks or elsewhere aboard.
One place, fewer apps
Instead of switching between five, six or seven separate equipment apps, bring supported functions together in a unified experience. Avoid unnecessary app subscriptions where functions can be consolidated.
Use screens you already own
Use compatible phones, tablets, fixed helm displays and Android-ready televisions rather than assuming you must purchase more dedicated proprietary screens.
Protect existing equipment
Modernise compatible legacy analogue engines and older-format sensors through integration, bringing their information into contemporary displays, monitoring and alerting without automatically replacing working equipment.
Keep the equipment. Upgrade the experience.
Many boats have well-maintained, reliable equipment that predates today’s connected systems. SmartBoat can bridge that gap: retro-integrate compatible analogue engines and legacy sensors, combine them with newer equipment and make their data useful for modern monitoring and alerts.
That means owners can improve the boating experience without having to discard perfectly serviceable systems simply to obtain a modern screen or better integration. The exact scope depends on the equipment and the integration available.
How to get started
Start for free. Connect your boat. Make it your own. You can explore SmartBoatOS first, and expand with compatible equipment and services when you’re ready.
▣ 1. Download mySmartApp — free
Get the core app from the Apple App Store, Google Play or our website. Enter your boat details and start experimenting with your own dashboards and screens using the built-in marine simulator. No SmartBox or NMEA network is needed to begin.

⌁ 2. Connect your boat
Add a SmartBox or compatible partner system box to integrate SmartBoatOS with your boat’s existing communications pathway and equipment. An existing NMEA network is not required.
Choose the connectivity you need
Both SmartBox Nano and Core provide core connectivity. Core adds NMEA 0183 multiplex switching, AIS receive and marine router capabilities.
| Capability | SmartBox Nano | SmartBox Core |
|---|---|---|
| NMEA 2000 | ✓ | ✓ |
| OneNet | ✓ | ✓ |
| Wi-Fi | ✓ | ✓ |
| MQTT | ✓ | ✓ |
| GPS | ✓ | ✓ |
| NMEA 0183 multiplex switching | — | ✓ |
| AIS receive | — | ✓ |
| Marine router | — | ✓ |
| Optional Vessel Dynamics Module | ✓ | ✓ |
An optional, separate Vessel Dynamics Module measures accelerations, pitch, heave and yaw, atmospheric pressure and magnetic heading using a digital magnetometer with calibration and ferrous learning. It can operate independently through NMEA 2000 or connect directly to Nano or Core through RJ11 power-and-data connections.
◇ 3. Unlock more with Pro
Upgrade in-app to Pro 2 or Pro Unlimited to unlock the additional SmartBoatOS functionality available to your plan. Choose the option that matches your equipment, usage and ambitions.
☷ 4. Add your equipment
Search the Partner and Community Catalogues to add equipment to your Equipment Manager. Catalogue records bring the available equipment details and documentation into your boat’s inventory. SmartBoat Ready Silver and Gold equipment can also provide supported monitoring and control screens, according to its integration level.
⚙ 5. Bring older equipment along
Keep your equipment. Modernise its capabilities. The SmartModule ecosystem can digitise and integrate compatible legacy equipment, such as analogue engines and older sensors, so you can monitor it, receive alerts and display its information alongside newer systems.
