SMARTBOATOS | ALERTS, GUIDANCE & EARLY WARNING
Know sooner. Understand more. Act with confidence.
Not just alarms — a smarter way to look after your boat.

Most boat owners want to go boating, not fix their boat. SmartBoatOS brings onboard warnings, remote visibility, manufacturer-supplied guidance and proactive maintenance together so emerging problems are easier to spot, understand and address.
Why we designed alerts differently
A conventional threshold alarm tells you when a condition has already crossed a limit. SmartBoatOS is designed to go further: distinguish urgency, provide a route to equipment-specific advice, reveal developing patterns and share relevant information with the people who help care for your boat.
Severity that fits the situation
Alerts range from maintenance and reminders through low, moderate and severe conditions — helping distinguish a service due date from an urgent engine warning.
Know what to do next
Hardware manufacturers can attach alert-specific guidance through the Partner Portal, so supported warnings can explain what needs attention and suggest appropriate next steps.
Beyond a single threshold
SmartBoatOS can convert state information into runtime and duty-cycle data, helping identify unusual activity before it becomes an emergency.
Onboard alerts, clearly presented
Visual notifications
Prominent on-screen alerts identify the condition and can open linked guidance where supplied.
Audible warnings
Choose suitable sounds from the alert catalogue to help communicate the type and urgency of an event.
Acknowledgement and reset
Alerts can be acknowledged or cleared; the underlying alert only resets once its triggering parameter returns to normal.
Configured alerts can also create entries in the Captain’s Log, preserving a record of events according to the owner’s settings.
Know what’s happening — even when you’re away
With a SmartBox installed and an internet connection, SmartBoatOS provides remote visibility of connected onboard systems. You can monitor vessel information away from the boat and receive relevant alerts without being at the helm.
Remote monitoring
Review connected onboard systems through SmartBoatOS, whether you’re aboard or away from the vessel.
SMS and email
For boats equipped with SmartBox, SMS and email notifications are available as part of the SmartBoat Pro subscription.
Support beyond the boat
With appropriate owner authorisation, selected alerts and vessel information can be shared with a technician, mechanic, manufacturer or fleet manager.
Early warning: watch the duty cycle, not only the alarm
Consider a bilge pump. A traditional high-bilge alarm may only sound after water has reached a dangerous level. SmartBoatOS can monitor pump state, calculate runtime and duty cycle, and flag abnormal increases in activity earlier — creating an opportunity to investigate a developing leak before a high-water alarm is triggered.
Example: an unusually active bilge pump
More frequent activations or a rising duty cycle may indicate that water is entering faster than normal. The alert can prompt inspection before the bilge reaches a critical level.

An alert should help you take action
Where supported, the hardware manufacturer can provide guidance for a particular device and alert through the SmartBoat Partner Portal. This links the warning to the equipment knowledge needed to make an informed response.
Example: engine temperature high
The manufacturer can supply the recommended response, such as reducing power or stopping the engine as appropriate, checking the raw-water inlet and strainer, and consulting the engine manual. Guidance must be appropriate to the specific engine and installation.
This is a key distinction: SmartBoatOS provides a route from an alert to manufacturer-authored instructions, rather than leaving the user with an unexplained fault message.
From reactive repairs to planned boat care
Not every alert is an emergency. Maintenance reminders, service intervals, inspections and renewals can sit alongside equipment alarms. This makes SmartBoatOS a tool for keeping the boat ready, not simply reporting when it has a problem.
Combine maintenance visits
If an engine service is due now and filters are due shortly afterwards, a technician may be able to schedule both together — reducing unnecessary call-outs and disruption.
Configured alert events can also feed the Captain’s Log and support ongoing maintenance planning.
Bring the right people into the loop
Boat owners
Understand onboard issues, monitor remotely and share relevant information with trusted specialists.
Marine technicians
With authorised access, view alerts and maintenance requirements across supported boats to identify issues and plan visits.
Fleet operators
Gain visibility of reported faults, incidents and maintenance needs across vessels, helping prioritise attention.
Hardware manufacturers
Where authorised, equipment error and failure information can help manufacturers support customers and identify recurring issues.
SmartBoatOS alerts are part of the whole system
Visual and audible notifications, remote monitoring, Captain’s Log entries, manufacturer guidance, runtime analytics and maintenance planning work as parts of one connected marine environment — rather than isolated functions.
